Jason vs. the Hydra

Jason vs the Hydra
Jason vs. the Hydra for Silver Screen Society's July movie "Jason and the Argonauts". Everybody always talks about the skeleton monsters from this movie but I think that the hydra with all of the heads moving independently is just as impressive.

The Persimmion Sequence

The Persimmion Sequence for Light Grey Art Lab Station Zero Show If you’re in the Minneapolis area make sure to check out the Station Zero show at Lightgrey Art Lab opening this Friday at 7 where you can see my reinterpretation of the cover for the retro sci-fi novel "The Persimmion Sequence". You can also purchase copies of the print and loads of others in their online shop. The book may not have been the most exciting story ever but I can assure you that it does contact apes with transplanted brains, giant evil computers and exploring planets filled with crystals. Just in case you're curious I've included the original cover below.

Adventure Time: Candy Capers #1 San Diego Comicon Exclusive Variant

Adventure Time: Candy Capers #1 San Diego Comicon Exclusive Varient

I am very excited to finally be able to share this, this is my cover for Boom Studios Adventure Time mini-series Candy Capers written by Yuta Ota, Ananth Panagariya. This was originally going to be for a later issue in the series but I found out recently that it was selected to be a San Diego Comicon Exclusive for Awesome Conventions with a limited run of only 500 copies. You can preorder a copy here or stop by their table. Seriously though shout out to the folks at Boom who are doing amazing things and letting cool people contribute to their projects.

Also on a personal note, I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way that I can come and hang out and do a signing but am having some trouble tracking down a place to stay, everything seems pretty much completely book already so if anyone know somewhere that has space or I can crash for a night or two let me know.

Kinect App Heads

Yesterday I took part in an event at the Bellevue Microsoft store with a group of coder/developers building a Kinect app. Over the course of the afternoon we built an app that would replace your head with a character head and animate your speech in real time. These are the heads that I built, I put the various frames together in a gif so you can see them in action.

I had the opportunity to take part in the latest Ten Paces and Draw swap based on the theme “Bravery”, I received a sketch from Abi Stevens to go off of, which I may have diverted a little bit from this time. I have to say that this was my favorite swap yet. See all of the entries here

Summer at Cornish 2013

I know it’s only May but if you are a high school student (ages 15-18) who thinks that spending the summer inside drawing rad things and watching cartoons sounds way better than a job at the ice cream hut or babysitting your little brother or if you know of someone else who fits that criteria I’d like to suggest the Summer At Cornish Precollege Program from July 8-August 2nd where I happen to be teaching a Sequential Design and Illustration course

Last year we had a blast and some of the things coming out of the class included a biker dude prince charming, multi-colored bats dripping with disease and a sea captain literally sword planting a torpedo into a submarine. I can vouch for the fact that most if not all students left the class with portfolio worthy work based on real life assignments.
You do not need to live in Seattle to take part of this, I know for a fact housing is available and they even do extra programming for the students living on campus. Also if you register and pay before Friday May 3rd you’ll get a 10% discount on the course

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
